Relying on the "double first-class" construction of Northeastern University, the Department of Electronic Science and Technology of the School of Information strives to cultivate research-oriented talents with broad professional knowledge, broad adaptability and advanced innovation consciousness in the field of electronic technology, focusing on the application of electronic devices and their systems and facing the modern optoelectronics. There are 21 teachers in the Department of Electronic Science and Technology, including 5 professors, 8 associate professors, 8 lecturers, 3 doctoral supervisors, and 20 doctoral degree students. They have formed a team of high-level faculty national leaded by winners of “Thousand Talents Program” youth project and the “Ten Thousand High-end Talents Introduction Project” in Liaoning Province. The Department has 1 doctoral degree program, 3 master degree programs, and 1 undergraduate degree in electronic science and technology. The Department currently undertakes a national-level quality course. Teachers in the Department have won the Outstanding Teaching Achievement Award from Northeastern University, and have published more than 100 high-level teaching and research papers.

Relying on the national “double first-class” discipline construction platform, the Department of Electronic Science and Technology, aims at the international science and technology frontier in this field, and is committed to researching the development and application of modern optoelectronic devices, and focuses on the basic theoretical innovation and key technological breakthroughs of optoelectronic science and technology. The main research directions include: fiber optics, intelligent micro-nano optoelectronic devices, special optical fibers, intelligent optical fiber sensing technology, modern electronic design, hardware computing, embedded technology, extreme environmental electronic systems, and intelligent electronic inverters. In recent years, the Department of Electronic Science and Technology has undertaken the National “Thousand Talents Program” Youth Project, the National Natural Science Foundation Project, the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, the Sub-Task of the Key Research and Development Project of the New Energy Vehicle of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Doctoral Fund Project of the Ministry of Education, the Natural Science Foundation of Liaoning Province, the Open Fund Project of the Key Laboratory of Beijing Control Engineering Research Institute, the scientific research project cooperated with the research institute of Aerospace Group, and more than 20 horizontal scientific research projects. In recent years, the department has been awarded the Japan Toyota Scholarship Research Award, the China Association for Analysis and Testing Science and Technology Award, and many other awards. More than 100 high-level papers, more than 10 monographs, and patents have been published. Many teachers in the department are members of the American Optical Society, the American Ceramic Society, the IEEE, the Chinese Physical Society, the Chinese Optical Society, and some other academic societies.

According to the needs of the “double-class” construction of Northeastern University, the Department of Electronic Science and Technology mainly cultivates students of a broad theoretical foundation and experimental ability in the fields of information electronics, optoelectronics and microelectronics, who can engage in the design and manufacture of various information electronic technologies and systems and the corresponding research and development of new products and technologies in this field.

The Department of Electronic Science and Technology enrolls undergraduate majored in electronic science and technology, master's degree in circuits and systems, master's degree in microelectronics and solid electronics, master's degree in physical electronics, as well as doctoral degree in detection technology and automation (China The first batch of two doctoral programs in the discipline, the national second-level key disciplines), and is committed to cultivating high-level, creative scientific research and technology development talents in the above-mentioned related fields and professions.

At present, the Department of Electronic Science and Technology has possessed a laboratory of electronic science and technology, and has established the Northeastern University-ALTERA Company EDA/SOPC Experimental Training Center, the Northeastern University-Intel Multi-core Technology Laboratory, and Northeastern University-Freescale Experimental Teaching Laboratory, Photonics Laboratory, Integrated Circuit Design Laboratory, Extreme Environment Electronic System Laboratory, and Special Optical Fiber Laboratory, relying on the Electrical Engineering Teaching Base of the National Engineering Foundation Course of Northeastern University and the National Electronic Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Northeastern University.

At the beginning of the establishment of the Department of Electronic Science and Technology, it won the honorary title of the May Fourth Youth Civilization and the Advanced Labor Union of the Northeast University. In the future, the Department of Electronic Science and Technology will take the construction of the discipline of optoelectronics as the main research direction, in order to do high-level scientific research and cultivate high-quality talents, and will facilitate our department into an innovation base for optoelectronic devices and systems, a training base for high-quality talents, a base for academic exchanges at home and abroad, as well as a base for combination of production, study and research.
